Army Public School, Narangi was initially established as a Unit School in 1970 with 10 children. In the beginning it catered for Nursery students only and was known as Rhino School. Subsequently, in 1980, classes up to IV were added and the name of the school was changed to Hill View Public School. Between 1981 and 1983, three more classes were added (up-to class VIII). In 1982, the school came under the Army Welfare Education Society as one of the Army Schools on 28 June 1982. It commenced its first academic session as one of the Army School on 28 June 1982. In March 1992, the first batch of students both in the science and arts stream appeared for the Senior School Certificate Examination.
